Web 3.0
  • The precise definition of web 3.0 is being debated, but for the most part it will be an extension, upgraded version of web 2.0, just as web 2.0 was of web 1.0. “While Web 2.0 uses the Internet to make connections between people, Web 3.0 will use the Internet to make connections with information.” (how web 3.0 will work)
  • It will understand information. Web 3.0 will become the semantic web, in which the search engine uses crawlers to find relationships between information. Just as some browsers currently remember previous searches, so will web 3.0, except instead of suggesting previous searches, it will do the search for you, like a personal assistant; and the more searches you perform, the better it gets. For example, if you wanted to go play a round of golf; you will simply type a sentence like “I want to play 18 holes of golf for less than $100 a round, within an hour of my house.” The browser will find golf courses you like, and make the tee time for you. This could be true for doctor’s appointments, vacations, restaurant reservations, movie or concert tickets, etc.
  • Right now, when you do a search, it uses the keywords you have entered and finds matches related to your search. In web 3.0, it will understand what you are looking for. Like your golf trip, it may include restaurants or other things to do in your area of interest. “It would treat the entire Internet as a massive database of information available for any query.” (how web 3.0 will work)
